SECOND UNIT

UNIT 02FIELD NOTES / WORKFLOWS / TOOLS

The production mandate

The shots between the shots.

In filmmaking, a second unit captures the essential coverage beyond principal photography: inserts, establishing shots, action, environments, and the footage that completes the cut.

CMD's Second Unit carries that idea into AI-assisted filmmaking. We build local workflows, test the tools under real production pressure, and document what actually gets a usable shot back into the edit.

DaVinci Resolve Studio integration

Generate beside the timeline.

Leon built a Workflow Integration panel for DaVinci Resolve Studio. Choose a mode, enter the prompt, run the local ComfyUI workflow, and bring the finished clip back into a Media Pool bin called AI Lab.

  • Runs against your local ComfyUI
  • Offers only workflows carrying a verification stamp
  • Supports text, stills, footage, replacement, and mattes

Result first / settings included

No demo-reel shortcuts.

Every breakdown starts with the finished result, then exposes the graph, hardware, settings, elapsed time, failures, and fixes. The point is a repeatable production path, not a perfect launch clip.

Workflow downloads

Use the graph.
Read the reality.

Standalone downloads will cover Second Unit H3 workflows, grouped by purpose. Each published pack will identify its requirements and known limitations.

What local means here

No quiet cloud call hiding in the graph.

Second Unit exists because a workflow can look local and still send a prompt to a paid external service. The repository includes a verification gate that checks the graph against a live ComfyUI server and reports external-service nodes by name.

The release documentation is being prepared to include measured hardware requirements, measured render times, tradeoffs, known limitations, and the difference between gate-verified and render-proven.

Second Unit is getting ready.

Downloads are temporarily unavailable while the H3 collection is reviewed. The panel is planned as source available under PolyForm Perimeter 1.0.1, with earlier permissions and third-party licenses preserved. Workflow terms will accompany the approved packs.
